This belief of his is kufr because it goes against the Qur’an and the Sunnah, Allah told the Prophet to say:
Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I am only a man like you, ˹but˺ it has been revealed to me that your God is only One God. So whoever hopes for the meeting with their Lord, let them do good deeds and associate none in the worship of their Lord.” in Surah Al Kahf verse 110.
It also goes against clear sahih hadiths
Simak b. Barb reported: I heard Nu’man deliver an address in which he said that (Hadrat) Umar made a mention of what had fallen to the lot of people out of the material world and he said: I saw Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) spend the whole day being upset because of hunger and he could not get even an interior quality of dates with which he could fill his belly. (Sahih Muslim 2978)
Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah: When the Trench was dug, I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) in the state of severe hunger. (Sahih Al Bukhari 4102)
Translation: Surah Al-An’am verse 9: And if We had sent an angel as a messenger, We would certainly have made him appear as a man, and We would have surely caused them the same confusion that they are already in.
Ahmad Raza Khan says about the verse: This makes it clear that it is the outward human appearance of the Prophets, peace be upon them, which misleads the blind-hearted. They have fallen into the deception of Shaytan.
To think of them as ordinary people like others, and to believe that their human nature is the same as ours, is extreme ignorance.
To equate oneself with the friends of Allah and to claim equality with the Prophets is to imagine oneself as being like them.
Their eating, drinking, and sleeping are not because they are in need of these things, far be it. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “I am not like you. I spend the night with my Lord who gives me food and drink.”
These actions of theirs are done for the establishment of the Sunnah and the teaching of the Ummah, so that every part of life may be shown practically in a praiseworthy manner.
Their forgetfulness and mistakes were also for this very reason, as mentioned in the hadith, “I do not forget, but I am made to forget so that the Sunnah may be established for the Ummah in the state of forgetfulness.”
Muhammad Abdari Ibn al-Hajj al-Makki said: The Prophet, did not engage in human states such as eating, drinking, and other natural acts for the sake of his own noble self. Rather, he did so to bring comfort to the people and so that they may follow him in these actions. Do you not see that Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “I marry women even though I have no need for them,” and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, also said: “I do…”
